If you're planning on avoiding Fiesta traffic downtown this weekend, we have some events for you. Between festivities, check out a garden show, art exhibit, and poetry reading.
The San Antonio Cactus & Xerophyte Show & Sale will be held through Friday and Saturday from 9 AM - 4:30 PM. This event will have everything you wanted to know about succulents, including educational displays, plant drawings, and vendors. If you're looking for some hearty plants that can handle our Texas summer, stop by the San Antonio Garden Center. Free entry.
The San Antonio Museum of Art is still showcasing an exhibit of Guatemalan artist Carlos Mérida's work. Influenced by Diego Rivera, Mérida's art also investigates folk themes and combines Surrealism, Constructivism, and his Mayan ancestry. Free - $10.
National Poetry Month of San Antonio is wrapping up this year's events this Sunday at 11:00 AM with a reading from Amanda Flores. Organized by the Celebration Circle, an interfaith nonprofit, "Voices and Vibes" will combine her work with live music as an exploration into multicultural understanding and connecting to "the Sacred in ourselves, each other and all creation, , expressed in ways that support people of all faiths – or no faith – alike." The event will be held at SAY SÍ. Free.
